The province’s economic immigration program is called the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) collaborates with the Government of Canada. Knowing the OINP Updates for getting an Invitation is important.
Those who meet the requirements in terms of education, experience, and skill set—including foreign workers and international students—apply for nomination to the OINP.
Applications for permanent residency are ultimately approved by the Government of Canada, although the OINP identifies and recommends individuals for permanent residence who possess the knowledge and expertise that the Ontario economy requires.

Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program Streams
Choosing the right stream to apply for OINP is the most important prospect. Two intake systems are used by the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) to handle applications. You must register in the Express Entry or Expression of Interest systems to notify the OINP that you would like to be invited to apply before you can apply for the program—Discover Ontario’s nine immigration streams.
Expression of Interest Systems
An expression of interest system is used by the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) to handle applications for the following streams.
Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker Stream
Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker stream allows foreign workers to apply to live and work permanently in Ontario if they have a job offer in a skilled occupation.
According to the National Occupational Classification (NOC), your job offer must be in a skilled occupation at TEER (Training, Education, Experience, and Responsibilities) categories 0, 1, 2, or 3. Foreign workers inside and outside Canada are welcome to use this stream.
Employer Job Offer: International Student Stream
International students who receive a job offer in a skilled occupation can apply to live and work permanently in Ontario through the Employer Job Offer: International Student stream.
According to the National Occupational Classification (NOC), your job offer must be in a skilled occupation at TEER (Training, Education, Experience and Responsibilities) categories 0, 1, 2, or 3.
Employer Job Offer: In-Demand Skills Stream
The Employer Job Offer: The in-demand Skills stream allows foreign workers to apply to live and work permanently in Ontario if they have a job offer in a limited few, in-demand occupations like construction, agriculture, and other fields. Foreign workers inside and outside Canada are welcome to use this stream.
Masters Graduate Stream
International graduates holding a master’s degree from Ontario may apply to live and work permanently in Ontario through the Masters’s Graduate stream.
Ph.D. Graduate Stream
International graduates holding a Ph.D. from Ontario may seek to reside and work permanently in Ontario through the Ph.D. Graduate stream.
Entrepreneur Stream*
Under the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP), there is an immigration path called the Entrepreneur path. It was created under the 2015 Ontario Immigration Act and associated rules. You must adhere to the procedure and fulfill the requirements outlined in the regulations for your application to be accepted. This is merely a summary; in the event of any disagreement between this page and the law, the law takes precedence.
This stream is intended for foreign business owners interested in purchasing an existing Ontario business or launching a new one.
Once a firm is established in Ontario, it allows an entrepreneur (and up to one foreign national business partner) to nominate themselves for permanent residence.
Note: Applications are not being accepted for the OINP’s Entrepreneur Stream. For any additional inquiries regarding corporate immigration via the OINP, or if you have received an invitation to apply to the stream but have not yet done so, please visit the official website.
To be recommended for permanent residence by the Ontario government, you must first register in Ontario’s Expression of Interest System and receive an invitation to apply. The next stage, if you are selected, is to submit an application to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), the federal government, and wait for the final decision.
Ontario’s Express Entry Streams
The Express Entry System of the federal government is used by the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) to handle applications for the following streams:
Human Capital Priorities Stream
Under the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP), Ontario has an immigration track called Express Entry Human Capital Priorities.
It allows foreign workers to apply to live and work permanently in Ontario if they meet the requirements for education, training, and skilled work experience.
Skilled Trades Stream
Under the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP), there is an immigration track called the Express Entry Skilled Trades track for Ontario.
It allows foreign nationals to apply to reside and work permanently in Ontario if they have work experience in qualified skilled trades in Ontario.
French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream
If you are a French-speaking foreign worker with excellent English language skills, apply for the French-speaking Skilled Worker stream.
Before applying to these streams, you need to have registered for the federal government’s Express Entry system with an up-to-date profile that includes your most recent education, work experience, and language exams, as well as a notification of interest from the OINP.
OINP Next Draw Prediction 2024

New OINP Rules 2024
Eligibility change for candidates with one-year college graduate certificates
To increase eligibility for foreign students who have earned a one-year college graduate certificate, the OINP has modified the Employer Job Offer: Foreign Student stream.
In the past, applicants with a one-year certificate from an approved institution could only apply through the OINP’s Employer Job Offer: International Student stream if the program required the completion of a degree as a prerequisite for admission.
This modification makes applications to the OINP eligible for any one-year college program that awards an Ontario College Graduate Certificate.
The number of certificate programs that are eligible for the OINP is increased by this change.
January 1st, 2024 is when this adjustment went into effect. Those who applied earlier are unaffected by this.
Summary of OINP Updates
Before January 1, 2024 | Effective January 1, 2024 | |
Program requirement | Only those whose program demanded a degree for admittance were eligible to pursue a one-year certificate from an Ontario institution. | Eligible students are those who earned an Ontario College Graduate Certificate after completing a one-year program at an Ontario college. |
Program eligibility | Most certificates were ineligible. | Most one-year graduate certificate programs in Ontario will become eligible. |
The Expression of Interest (EOI) scoring variables for the highest educational degree and additional Canadian credentials have been updated to reflect this change. It is advised that current registrants who were not asked to apply study the updated EOI in light of these changes.
The list of accredited educational institutions for this stream has also undergone revisions.
Before applying, we advise prospective candidates to review the OINP website and OINP Updates to make sure they meet all stream requirements and to view the most recent requirements and scoring.
